A Haute Baby Room In Magnolia

Updated: Nov 5, 2018

When we were called upon to design this baby's room for two girls, we were excited and overwhelmed at the same time.

Designing a baby room can be a daunting task. Keeping a good balance between the parents' aesthetic and the functional needs for the room can present a challenge.

We were very fortunate, in that our client was very open to whatever ideas we presented, as long as she had a rocking chair in the room! :-)

Can you guess what was the jumping off point for this room?

Yes! You guessed it! The wallpaper for sure. We found the gorgeous wallpaper through a French company after a bit of searching around, and we were able to obtain it through a US supplier.

The room's color palette was pulled from all the colors in the paper, without going too overboard. The black cribs that the client already owned, and the black and white polka dot rugs, help to ground the room quite well.

Here are a few things to keep in mind if you want a haute baby room like this for your little one

1 - Go as bold as you can handle with the wallpaper. They won't stay babies for long, and this is the time to really give the room personality, until they develop theirs'

2 - Avoid themes as much as possible. Themey spaces get dated very quickly

3 - Bring in seating that are comfortable and functional. My client wanted a rocking chair for the space, and that is a given with babies' rooms

4 - personalize as much as possible. Especially when it is a shared space. Here we had custom calligraphy done for each girl and framed and hung them over each of their cribs

5 - Bring in blackout window treatments. You will thank me for this one later

5 - Don't forget lighting. A great ceiling fixture is a must. But don't forget lamps as well

6 - Add as much storage as the room will allow

if you need any help with creating a haute and bold nursery for your little princes and princesses, don't hesitate to reach out
