I am well aware that this is where I may lose a few loyal readers 🙂 Just Kidding! At least I hope not. This weekend was a busy one full of decorating projects, including painting a door coral like I have always wanted to do.
This door is in my kitchen and leads to the laundry room. Any one who knows me, knows how much I hate doing laundry. Maybe subconsciously I knew I need some cheering up on laundry day, so I decided to go for it. It’s only paint, right?
The door is just across from my breakfast area turned morning room (see my blog post about my new morning room here). So the coral makes sense in the grand scheme of the kitchen’s color scheme
The cabinetry and floor is pretty dark, so adding a pop of color in the kitchen was needed. And as a Caribbean girl, I love my color. In fact the orange color family is my favorite. I have been told many times that orange looks great against my dark skin tone, so why wouldn’t I want to live with it in my home? Agree? 🙂

I certainly will not be painting all the doors in my home coral, but eventually I will be painting them a color other than white – maybe dark gray.
If you have a favorite color, you can decorate with it in small doses or as much as you can live with. Just keep balance in mind when you do. Doors are a great way to do that, by the way. It is scary to most people, but think about it – it takes less than a quart of paint and about an hour to do. No major set-back there.
I have already gotten a few objections from folks on Facebook. The common theme seems to be that they like it, but their spouse (mostly husbands) wouldn’t go for it. That’s one of the perks of being a single woman I guess 🙂

Incase you are wondering why two clocks above the door (I already had a few people ask on Facebook), they represent the time in 2 cities that I love: Katy (where I live) and Montego Bay (where I am from).You may notice the name plates below each clock. It so happens that Montego Bay and Katy are actually the same time now, but there are times when they are an hour difference. 🙂
Here I did the same thing for a client a few months ago (The name plates were not in yet in this photo). Her name plates are Las Vegas, Jerusalem and Maui.
