Why We Love Upholstered Headboards

Hello My Lovelies! 🙂

Hope you all had a great Independence Day!!

I spent mine in bed all day. Really? I did nothing but stay in bed and watched TV all day 🙂

Which inspired today’s post on upholstered headboards……….

Upholstered headboards have become a hot trend, and fortunately show no sign of cooling down anytime soon. There’s a reason why they are so popular with homeowners and designers. They can be as unique as your personality, give you a great opportunity to use a favorite fabric in a small controlled way, and make a great focal point in a bedroom. Upholstered headboards are a great way to re-invent a bedroom, and make it easier to work with existing furniture pieces. So if you have a bedroom set that you purchased many years ago and just want a change, an upholstered headboard is a great way to change up the look of the room without replacing everything.

Upholstering a headboard is actually an easy DIY project. If you are somewhat handy and have a little bit of time on your hands, you can build your own custom upholstered headboard for under $100! Here’s  a blog that I follow that will provide you with step-by-step instructions on crafting your own, personalized headboard. (You’re welcome :-))

Here’s one I did recently for a studio apartment project

Today’s upholstered headboards are also available in very tall sizes which are great and comfortable when you want to read and watch TV in bed, while adding drama to your space. There are also many options available to match your personal style and aesthetic.

A little bit of wood trim adds a nice touch.

They usually work great with a contrasting piping or nail head detailing. Tufting always give them a more classic look as well

It is easy to care for an upholstered headboard, despite what some people may think. I recommend choosing a durable, upholstery grade fabric that can be spot cleaned for your headboard.

For regular maintenance, I recommend a light vacuuming with the soft bristle attachment of your vacuum cleaner every couple of weeks or so.

So if you are thinking about giving your bedroom a facelift, consider what a new bed can do.  And think upholstered headboard this time for a fun and interesting way to add style, comfort, and interest to your room. The only limit is your imagination!

Wishing You beauty and Inspiration!
