Welcome to week three of the One Room Challenge! I am glad you stopped by today.
I cannot believe that we are already half way through this six weeks challenge. Linda from Calling It Home Blog was right to include the word “challenge” in the name when she created and trademarked The One Room Challenge a few years ago.
Anyhoo, it is a lot of fun and it pushes you to get a project done in a short time frame. As Designers, we realize that is borderline insanity if we even attempted to do this on a typical project.
If you have been following the progress of Josh’s teen bedroom makeover so far, you will know that I didn’t get a whole lot done last week, but I tried to make up for it this week. Check out my progress here and here
Ok, so let’s see what I got done this week:
Everything has been ordered now, except for the rug. I completely forgot to order it. talk about stress. Lol. This would never happen on a real project for a client for sure.
The plywood floors have been laid and I am so nervous about tackling the stain to achieve the look I am going for. Fingers…..and toes crossed for me please.
This is kind of what we are going for, just with lighter colors (and not so blurry 🙂 )
The carpet getting pulled out
Carpet Removal….Bye bye yucky carpet
The plywood floor being laid with the help of Felipe, my handyman
Plywood Floor Being Installed
Here’s the floor as it is now before stain
The Finished Plywood Floor (Pre-Stain)
The room was also painted. I am so happy I painted the doors like Joshua suggested
Painted Walls and Doors
Painted Doors
What do you think? I love it so much! 🙂
The dresser was also painted with stripes, I am trying to decide if I like it, so I won’t share it just yet. the plan is to put in the room and see how I feel about it then 🙂
The AWESOME desk arrived, but it is still in the box unassembled. The fabric also arrived for the window treatment and shams, and production will begin on those soon.
The built-ins are getting done next week and that is when I plan to stain the floor. I may do a tutorial here on the blog with this floor, but you can check out another one I did not long ago here
I think that is all I got done this week. I feel like I am still off track just a bit. of course it won’t help that I will be leaving for High Point, North Carolina on Saturday for the Spring Furniture Market. I am super excited about going to see all the latest trends in home fashions, and to attend workshops and seminars with industry heavy-weights, so I am not complaining. Check out my recent post on my countdown to High Point here
So not a lot will be different next week. I am starting to get worried here. Let’s check out what the main participants are up to

Please don’t forget to check out some of the rooms of the other linking participants at the link party going on now! There are so many talented Designers and homeowners linking this edition…..I think over 120! It gets bigger and better every year!
I will be a bit quiet next week here on the blog, but you can follow me on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the fun I will be having in High Point 🙂
Wishing You Beauty and Inspiration!
