One Room Challenge – Parisian Eclectic Powder Room – Week 4

Hey Lovelies,

I have settled in from my trip to High Point market and ready to hit the ground running again with my One Room Challenge powder room

This is what my foyer looked like a few weeks ago, and it certainly doesn’t look like this today. Why? That door you see there, is my powder room. The room I decided to make over in six weeks for the One Room Challenge. 20 featured designs have 6 weeks to make over a room in their home or a client’s home and blog about the progress. Linda Weinstein of Calling It Home started this challenge back in 2011 and it happens every Spring and Fall. Other guest participants are welcomed to join in and blog about the progress of their space as well. This is my 6th time joining in as a guest participant. Check out week 1, week 2, and week 3 for the progress so far

Things were smooth sailing for a while, and honestly, I got a bit complacent. I even left for a week to go to High Point Market (Catch my first roundup here). It’s only a small powder room after all. Yeah, right!

Well yesterday I had a 200 pound drama when the marble countertop would not fit into the space for the vanity. I think it’s 200 lbs. Haha

Remember that beautiful marble that you guys helped me choose? Well, it was a beast to get into the snug 35″w X 21″D space sandwiched between two walls

My beautiful Parisian trim detailing didn’t help at all, and neither did the 8″ waterfall edge I chose. Some shaving had to happen to the stone to get it to eventually fit. It was the only choice – cutting the plywood walls was not a wise option. As a result, I have bigger gaps on the sides than I would have liked, but we did caulk them. Still noticeable to me, so I will have to find a way to disguise that a bit.

There was some serious finger nails biting going on for a hot minute there yesterday. But I am so glad that it is in now

In other news – the beautiful lily pad light fixture is in. It is so pretty and the light it gives off is amazing. So perfect for the powder room, and I am so happy I went with it. You can get your very own lily pad light fixture here

The pendants were also installed. Love them! I still need bulbs for them

So much better than a wall light

Yesterday I made a trip over to Republic Creations to pick out the walnut wood slab for the vanity shelf. Thankfully, the owner, Eric agreed to get this done for me in under a week. Check out this beauty!

I think I will keep it in a matte finish.

What’s next?

I need the painters back out to finish off the painting. The plumber is lined up for today or Saturday, and then my art installer comes soon. The roman shade is also in production and getting installed next week. Still quite a bit to get done in a week. Ughhh. Wish me luck. Photography is lined up for October 31st, so I need to be done by then.

Head on over to the One Room Challenge to check out the other participants, featured designers and sponsors
