I have to admit that a few years ago when I first heard the term "sous vide", I had no idea what it was. I don't spend a whole lot of time in the kitchen, so that was understandable. But now that I am fully aware of what it is, I am intrigued by this cooking technique.
What is "sous vide"?
Pronounced (sue veed), it is French for "under vacuum"
Sous vide is a cooking method by which food is vacuum-sealed in a bag and then submerged in water and slow-cooked in its own juices until it is perfectly cooked. It can be any food - from meats to vegetables.
It is said to be the perfect way to cook because of the constant and precise temperature maintained during the process of slow cooking. Sous vide has long been a method used by the world's top chefs in the fanciest restaurants, and these days, thanks to technology, it is available to consumers without having to own a full commercial kitchen
If you've followed us for a while, you will no doubt be familiar with Signature Kitchen Suite, a luxury appliance company, and the first to offer built-in sous vide, induction and gas cooking all on the cooktop, in their 48" Pro Range.
Back in 2019, I had the honor of attending a brand immersion tour in Napa, CA sponsored by Signature Kitchen Suite, where myself and 21 other DesignHounds, got to spend some time learning about the brand, what they stand for, and experiencing the appliances, and cooking sous vide first hand. You can learn more about that amazing trip HERE
It was an amazing opportunity to learn at the Experience and Design Center, which is their, state of the art facility in Napa that boasts product experts and onsite executive chefs who provide hands-on education that define the #Technicurean lifestyle, a term that defines Signature Kitchen Suite's commitment to innovation, and embracing a new generation of forward-thinking, tech-savvy cooks, combining their passion for food with their appreciation of innovation.
I mentioned their 48" Pro Range above, and not only is it a powerful appliance for the avid home chef, but it is a beautiful addition to any kitchen
Isn't the range a thing of beauty? Learn more about it HERE
Just this past week we got to celebrate sous vide week and the launch of DesignHounds At Home with Signature Kitchen Suite. Over 50 DesignHounds were invited to a Virtual Launch Party via Zoom, and sent our very own Anova Precision Cooker (I call it my sous vide stick) and a delicious limoncello recipe by Chef Nick with Signature Kitchen Suite.
This small but mighty device here, will cook your food within 0.1° accuracy! It's truly impressive!
We used it to prepare our lemon peels for the delicious limoncello we enjoyed at the DesignHounds At Home Launch Party. It can be used to cook anything. Sous vide is really the best way to cook food because you can control the temperature unlike other techniques. This method utilizes precise temperature control with circulation to produce results that cannot be achieved through traditional cooking methods.
As a DesignHound, we get to network, build relationships with many luxury brands, and experience their products through brand immersion tours and industry trade shows. Our founder Veronika Eagleson, CEO of Modenus, was not about to let a global pandemic get in the way of this very important mission to link brands with the designers who specify their products, and the DesignHounds At Home was born from her commitment to uplift the industry.
The Launch Party last week was a great way to see each other again, enjoy a great cocktail, learn more about one of our favorite brands, and reflect on the great things 2020 brought us despite the threat of the coronavirus.
I am so honored to be chosen for this great opportunity for DesignHounds At Home. I cannot express enough my gratitude for Veronika and her team for being industry leaders and influencers, and for always striving for true connections and inclusion within the industry. I cannot wait till we can see each other in person again.
Wishing You Beauty And Inspiration!
