No, I am not an official style and trend spotter for The High Point Market Authority, but there were so many new and beautiful things to see and touch, that I left there totally inspired.
Many of you have at least heard about High Point Market, but in case you haven’t, it is the world’s largest market for home furnishings. Twice a year (Spring and Fall), thousands of vendors and patrons gather in High Point, North Carolina to see what’s new in the world of interior design and home furnishings. As a designer, it is a must visit! It is a way to see the newest and best, and find unique and exciting products for our clients
This Fall Market days were from October 22nd-26th and I decided to stay the entire time to take advantage of all there was to see. Market is spread out over several miles in several different buildings, and it is extremely tiring and pretty much impossible to see all there is to see. To make the most efficient use of my time, I typically make a list of all the vendors I want to see and visit them first, and then fill in with new vendors. But what usually happens is that I get distracted looking at the new ones and my plans usually go out the window 🙂 You can’t see pretty and just walk on by, Haha
The first day, I honestly didn’t get a whole lot done. I met up with a group of designer buddies that I met through online Facebook groups. We were meeting in person for the first time, so most of day was spent socializing a bit.
We had a lot of fun, but day two was back to business as usual. My friend Yelena and I got right to it, touring the showrooms we had on our lists. Yelena is a designer from NJ who I also met online and we were also meeting for the first time. It is like we always knew each other!

My favorite color trends at Market
Emerald seemed to be a trend at market. Although it was not everywhere, it showed up in some great vignettes at some of my favorite showrooms
Purple and fuchsia also showed up in some of my favorite showrooms. This vignette from Lexington has to be my favorite of all. this is my kinds decorating 🙂
Favorite Looks
The industrial look does not seem to be going away anytime soon. It was everywhere
Lucite was definitely everywhere, so it is a trend we will see more of
Milk glass furniture will also be a huge trend I think (Not a great picture of this amazing Bernhardt milk glass desk)
Four poster beds were everywhere, mostly contemporary with metal posts
Sexy back chairs were in abundance.
And some showrooms definitely brought sexy back
I found some great contemporary furnishings that are still warm and inviting
Global inspired will continue to be a trend.
And that “Restoration Hardware” look is still hanging on
Soft and monochromatic, and very textured looks were sprinkled throughout Market as well
Mixing materials was also very common, like metal base tables with wooden tops
These beautiful eye-candy pieces are by Corey Damen Jenkins for Leather Craft. Corey is one of my favorite designers and is accomplishing great things
This is literally my favorite art/photography art at Market. Lol. How cool are these mug shots?
I loved seeing some whimsical touches as well. Can you name the celebrities in this one? 🙂
And because orange is my favorite color, I always notice it no matter what
I am always drawn to really graphic details, and these rugs by Nikki Chu for Jaipur were so beautiful. Can’t wait to specify them for an upcoming project
I fell in love with this amazing recliner. It goes all the way back! So comfortable
I snagged a few cow hide rugs. They are so classic to me
And these shagreen tables are next on my list. Shagreen was showing up quite a bit at Market as well, so look for it in some of my new projects
I managed to get a bit of education in as well, and met a few of my design heroes like Erika Ward, Corey Damen Jenkins, Libby Langdon, Malene Barnette, Lance Jackson, Cheryl Luckett and many more
And even toured an upholstery factory to see just what goes into a quality piece of upholstery
I have a ton more pictures and couldn’t possibly show them all in this post.
Hope you guys enjoyed seeing some of the latest trends and some of my favorites. I hope you are as inspired as I am.
