Hiring an interior designer really does not have to cost a ton of money.
These days, savvy design firms like ours, understand that not all clients are looking to design in the traditional ways, and we therefore have service options available to work with clients who may just need a different level of service. It is all about flexibility and meeting our clients where they are in their pursuit of a beautiful, functional and comfortable home
One of the many ways we love to work with clients is by repurposing the furnishings they already own. A full overhaul is not always necessary. A skilled design firm like Casa Vilora Interiors can bring solutions to even the most nondescript of spaces.
When we were called upon by our vivacious client to breathe some life into her living room, dining room and formal sitting room, we knew we had to work with some of the pieces she already owned.
She had recently moved into this home, and although she loved a lot about it, there were some things she was ready to see upgraded.
Here is the room before
Not a bad looking room as you can see, but that molding above the fireplace was really trying hard to steal the show, but fell flat. We decided to remove it entirely and added some cleaner picture frame moldings instead. The wall is now a clean, architecturally strong element int he room, yet remains simple
We then painted the walls in a soft neutral to create a clean background. The shelving unit was a bit dated looking as well, so we decided to add the beautiful blue grasscloth wallpaper to the back. This also helped to balance out the weight of the television over the mantel
The client already owned the sectional, the accent chair, the console on the wall behind the sectional, and the rug, which became the inspiration for the room's color palette. The red, white and blue leans to a more traditional vibe, so we kept the furnishings that we brought in pretty transitional but with a classic feel
The custom bench was covered in a simple plaid fabric and helps to separate two seating zones in the room, without creating a visual barrier
The back wall felt vast and sparse, so we brought in a series of color block abstract art by Designer and Artist, Terri Lind Davis. These were actually pieces that hung in the showroom that our client fell in love with.
We added lots of beautiful pillows with a great mix of patterns and textures on the sectional. Somehow we didn't capture a shot of the pillows in the room
We added a few accessories on the existing console and a couple of garden stools in the chinoiserie motif underneath to help fill this large wall
The secondary seating area by the large window in the room was outfitted with brand new pieces. Custom wing back chairs, again bring in some classic details, the bar cart turned accent table was a welcomed surprise by my client, and the custom draperies help to soften the wooden blinds which had to remain in the room
Here's what it looked like before.
The existing chairs were moved to the master bedroom
We created this vignette with all new pieces and the abstract Kelly Oneil art as the focal point.
Our client already owned a lot of the room's accessories that she collected from her travels, and we tried to incorporate most of them.
Accessories is a very important part of beautifully designed room. It brings that final layer of warmth and uniqueness.
We love to bring in faux plants and florals so they will last a long time. We only use greenery and florals that look as life-like as possible. These look like they were freshly cut from the backyard
Books always add some warmth and livability in every space.
"We are doing great Veronica, we are so happy that we have a beautiful home to relax in"
These were the sweet words we received after checking with our client recently.
If you have a room in your home that may be looking a little rough, we can help you find that diamond :-)
Wishing You Beauty And Inspiration!
Veronica
